Butch Moore is a singer-songwriter and guitarist from Glen Carbon, Illinois, just 30 miles from St. Louis, Missouri. Self-taught on guitar since the summer of 1965 at age 13, his music blends acoustic, folk, blues, country, reggae, and heartfelt originals, all delivered with honesty, simplicity, and genuine passion. Early influences include Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, Hank Williams, and the 1963 arrival of The Beatles, which ignited his lifelong love for music. He lives for his family and music, having been married to Cindy Moore for over 30 years. Together they raised two children, Austin and Kalyn. Butch is a proud grandpa to grandsons Luke Alexander (born 2020) and Elijah Joseph (born 2022).
For more than 40 years, Butch has hosted the legendary Sunday night open mic at the acoustically perfect Stagger Inn (now Stagger Inn Again) in Edwardsville, IL. The event has become a welcoming hub that draws musicians from across the U.S. and around the world, including visitors from England, France, Spain, Iran, Turkey, Ireland, Mexico, Ukraine, Canada, Finland, and beyond. He also serves as a key contact for touring bands looking to add Midwest shows to their routes and performs regularly at venues throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area and beyond.
A tireless performer, Butch plays nearly 180 shows annually across the Midwest and other parts of the U.S. He is a regular at The Festival of Nations in Tower Grove Park, Broadway Oyster Bar, Grant’s Farm, The Winery at Shale Lake, Recess Brewing, Big Daddy’s, Copper Dock Winery, and many other bars, wineries, and farmers markets.
